The latest project from Nosferatu and The Lighthouse director Robert Eggers is here. Will Werwulf surprise and delight? Or baffle and frustrate? Finding out is part of the fun!
Focus Features has now unveiled the full trailer for Werwulf, and it is described as:
“A harrowing tale of devotion, damnation and the devil within.”
The story is set in 13th-century England and much has been made of the reports that the movie will be largely narrated in Old English dialogue from the time period.
There have been some other changes. A report over at Dark Horizons says that Werwulf was originally to be shot in black and white, but instead they have used an “orthochromatic treatment” in post change skin tones and put the grain structure of a black and white movie into a color film. Fascinating.
Edgers has already said that this is the “darkest thing” he’s ever written.
The movie co-stars Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, Ralph Ineson, and Bodhi Rae Breathnach.
Werwulf is released into cinemas, hopefully not like David Kessler, on December 25th.
