Gadot Talks SNOW WHITE Failure

Snow White became notorious. It seemed like some kind of cursed project from day one. From bizarre decisions on “magical creatures” vs. dwarves, to a lead star who simply couldn’t keep her Gen-Z talking points to herself. The results were inevitable.

The film was a major box-office bomb, taking in just $205.7 million worldwide off a budget of, according to some sources, nearly $300 million.

There were reshoots, talk of stars not being on good terms, and the whole thing became something of a meme maker rather than a major studio release. None of the stars has openly discussed the challenges of the movie… until now.

Gal Gadot has given an interview on the Israeli version of The Assembly (Australia) and Les Rencontres du Papotin (France), where interviewers confirmed to be on the autism spectrum conduct interviews with personalities. The results are often blunt and direct.

In this, Gadot completely shot down the rumors of a rift with Rachel Zegler:

“Working alongside Rachel Zegler. We laughed and we talked, we had fun. I was positive the movie was going to be a huge hit.

So what happened? According to Gadot, a lot of the issue was a certain event:

And then Oct. 7 happened, and what happened all over in different industries, not just Hollywood, there was a lot of pressure put on celebrities, actors, creators to post against Israel. And it happened.

I can always explain and try to give people in the world context about the situation and the reality in Israel, and I always do that. But at the end, people make up their own minds. And I was disappointed that the movie was incredibly affected by all of that and that it didn’t do well at the box office. But it is what it is, you win some, you lose some.”

I don’t know if it was our point of view, but the general funk around Snow White seemed to have developed long before Hamas got involved, so not sure we can fully agree with Gadot here. The writing was on the wall already.

Snow White is currently available to stream on Disney+. One of these days I may watch it out of sheer curiosity.
