Gremlins 3 is a go for 2027 — November 19, if you want to get specific about it.
Original screenwriter Chris Columbus is attached to direct. Steven Spielberg will executive produce. No word if Zach Galligan or Phoebe Cates will return, but why wouldn’t they?
We can probably even get a Corey Feldman return if he can tear himself away from his music career. I am still 100-percent convinced Feldman is bad on purpose with his musical pursuits.
The original Gremlins hit screens in 1984 and helped create the PG-13 rating with its combination of horror and humor.
Director Joe Dante followed it up in 1990 with the wacky Gremlins 2, which decided to go nuts with the sequel and do whatever it wanted, up to and including going meta and introducing vegetable gremlins. Tim Burton also did this with Batman Returns, which probably helped put the kibosh on directors going nuts on big IP sequels forever after the accountants had a word…
