I’m not saying we’ve been waiting a while for GTA VI, but my granddad asked me when it was coming out! I kid, I kid, I don’t know where my grandad is; I haven’t seen him since we saw The Last Jedi at the cinema, and he said that was the best Star Wars he had seen.
You’re probably the same age as me, and remember a time of cassette tapes, VHS videos and smoke signals. The best thing about getting physical media was the little booklets, maps, song lyrics etc. Good times.
GTA VI is due out later this year, but if you were hoping for a physical copy of the game, you are out of luck. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have announced that you can still buy the game in shops, but it won’t have the disc, just a digital download code.
It seems that physical copies of the box can be pre-ordered, and played a few days before GTA VI’s official release. However, the pre-order sales are still only digital, with a physical box, map, and booklet, but still only a download code.
It means that you cannot share the disc with anyone; you download it to your PS5/Xbox, and that’s it. No second-hand sales or passing the disc around to friends.
Rockstar have said this is to stop pirate copies hitting the market soon after release. Not being funny, but how they will stop this is beyond me. As soon as the game goes live, you know hackers will be hacking.
Unofficially, it’s thought that later in the year, a physical disc might be released, just to double dip on the sales.

That’s A Spicy Meatball
According to reports, GTA VI has cost between $1 – 2 billion to make. I’m sorry, could you speak into my good ear? Up to $2 billion!
Rockstar has said there are two versions of the game. The base version will cost $80, with an ‘ultimate’ version costing $100. Not sure what you get extra for that; I’m guessing a paint job for a digital car and a gold digital gun.
Sales for GTA VI have already gone on sale, and people have been pre-ordering it. Will they never learn?
Other Issues
While looking up the details about GTA VI, there are also other issues which might affect sales. As we know, gender swapping is a thing that’s still going on. It seems that Rockstar has now included a female protagonist for the new game. I want to say ‘that’s so 5 years ago’, but they must have thought it was a good idea, 5 years ago.
In Hollywood, the gender swap thing has not been good or profitable. Will GTA VI buck the trend?
Well, there have also been rumours of the game including a Pride Parade. They want to have more ‘Unconscious Bias and Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging‘.
The other issue being, if there is a Pride Parade, how many screenshots and videos will come out of, umm, people with guns at a parade? I’m not going to say what you’re all thinking, but you know what I mean.

Will you be playing GTA VI when it comes out?
