HARRY POTTER Series Finds Harry, Ron & Hermione

We’ve heard loads about the cast of the new Harry Potter series. At the moment, the confirmed cast is: John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Finch, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Janet McTeer as McGonagall, Nick Frost as Hagrid, and Paapa Essiedu as Snape.

Today, it’s been announced who will play Harry, Ron, and Hermione. The new cast members are Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Staton, and Alastair Stout.

Now, it’s not clear who plays who; it might be the ginger kid who plays Hermione. More than 30,000 actors auditioned for the lead roles.

Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer and director Mark Mylod said in a statement:

“After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.”

All three are relatively new faces, but they’re likely to become much more well-known now. No one can say for sure how big the new Harry Potter series will be—but it’s Harry Potter, so people will watch it.

I feel for Staton, who’s playing Hermione. A huge backlash happened with casting Essiedu as Snape, and now, the same casting choice has taken place. The showrunners and HBO know they won’t catch the flak, but this poor young girl will.
