Both shows were big hits and ran for multiple seasons, way past the standard seven years.
This new version will be directed for the big screen by Spider-Man: Brand New Day helmer Destin Daniel Cretton.
According to Deadline the project is set up at Paramount Pictures with Bad Boys for Life writer Chris Bremner on script duties with Noah Oppenheim.
The adaptation has the blessing of the estate of original series creator Leonard Freeman.
Cretton will head for Hawaii after his next project, which is a live-action Naruto movie shooting early 2027.
