Move over Iron Man, Riri Williams is here to take over as Ironheart, who’s going to be infinitely better than Iron Man in every way.
I’m trying my hardest to keep this as unopinionated as I can, and I’m fighting every urge in my body. Ironheart stars Dominique Thorne, Anthony Ramos, Alden Ehrenreich, Manny Montana, Zoe Terakes, Lyric Ross, Matthew Elam, and Zhaleh. The story is:
Genius teenage inventor Riri Williams creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.
Ironheart is a spin-off from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. After helping fend off Namor and the Talokan army, she’s now back home and ready to face a new challenge, make a suit of armour better than Iron Man’s. That shouldn’t be hard, she is a genius.
The Ironheart series teased a “magic vs science” theme, but the trailer doesn’t show any sign of that. Her motivation, it seems, comes from a desire to be recognised for her greatness.
Ironheart finished filming back at the of 2022 and has been sitting on the shelf, most people thought it might have been another tax write-off. 2022 was the year we saw She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, which probably had nothing to do with holding Ironheart back.
Ryan Coogler, who directed both Black Panther movies, is producing the new series. Coogler said:
“Ironheart is such a great character in publishing. In 2016, Brian Michael Bendis created a character who would be a successor of sorts to the Iron Man legacy.”
“In the comic book, Riri Williams and Tony Stark had a relationship—she was a student at MIT who came from an almost polar opposite background as Tony, but they came together in their passion to better society. Eventually, the character gets her own identity as Ironheart, and other writers like Eve Ewing picked up from there, taking Riri Williams to Chicago.”
Ironheart will stream the first three episodes on the 24th of June.
