We still bloody love The Stath here at Last Movie Outpost. We will even forgive him for Shelter because you can’t proclaim somebody a God of the VHS rental-style mid-budget action thriller and then complain when they do something generic. That would be like holding Raw Deal against Arnie.
So we are looking forward to Jason Statham Stole My Bike, and everything going a bit meta!
Statham stars as global action superstar Jason Statham, and it is directed by The Fall Guy, Deadpool 2, and Bullet Train director David Leitch. Not only is it already shooting, but it wraps this week. Nobody knows anything more about it other than that it will be a meta-comedy, it has an $80 million budget, and there are a number of large action set pieces.
Alison Flierl (BoJack Horseman) wrote the script based on a story by herself and Scott Chernoff. This re-teams Leitch and Statham from Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, the best Fast and Furious movie by a long way, made even better because it made Vin Diesel so very, very angry.
Leitch produces with his wife (love those healthy tax arrangements!) through their 87 North banner. Statham, John Friedberg, Meredith Berg and Ethan Erwin also get points.
Statham remains the hardest working leading man in Hollywood with Guy Ritchie’s Viva La Madness and a sequel to The Beekeeper locked in, and now with Jason Statham Stole My Bike setting an an August 6th 2027 release.
