You can’t see an interview with Jennifer Lawrence without thinking she seems like good fun and doesn’t take herself at all seriously. Refreshing for an Oscar winner. She is set to join Hollywood’s latest golden boy Zach Cregger’s new project, The Flood.
The Weapons and Barbarian director Zach Cregger’s next film is a sci-fi project set up at New Line Cinema.
Cregger walked the project from Netflix after they refused to give The Flood a cinematic release. He headed for Warner Bros. Who gave him what he wanted.
He’s directing, and Steven Spielberg is the Executive Producer.
Warner Bros big-wigs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy gave a statement:
“Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most gifted and compelling actors working today, and we are thrilled to have her at the center of Zach’s bold and wholly original vision for The Flood.
Following our extraordinary experience together on Weapons, we could not be more excited to reunite with Zach and the team at Vertigo, as well as Amblin to bring this ambitious film to audiences around the world.”
The Flood follows a deep-space exploration team aboard the vessel Spiritus Mundi. They investigate a strange, recurring signal from a remote planet where they find an alien artefact that starts warping time, reality, and the crew’s minds.
Cregger famously wrote the script for the film in just five days.
The Flood will be released in theaters on August 11th 2028.
