Michael Mann, director of famous gun-handling movies Collateral and Heat, was rushed to hospital yesterday after accidentally shooting himself at a gun range.
The report says he shot himself in the leg, according to TMZ, at a sanctioned range in Los Angeles.

Reports say that Mann (83-years-old) is an an experienced target shooter and the incident occurred as he was holstering his weapon.
His injury was reportedly “subcutaneous and minor”.
In response, Mann’s agent released a statement:
“On Saturday, at a gun range, a weapon accidentally discharged while holstered resulting in a superficial injury to film director Michael Mann. He was treated and is being released”
Mann is currently in pre-production on Heat 2 which will start… erm… shooting, very soon.
Both Heat and Collateral contain canes of firearms use that are held up as examples of great discipline and technique, so now that Mann is confirmed as not in any danger, expect there to be a few jokes on a few sets about this.
