Finally, there is a new Star Wars movie about to start filming. Will Star Wars: Starfighter be more Andor and Skeleton Crew? Or veer towards The Last Jedi, Rise Of Skywalker, and The Acolyte? It is all such a gamble these days.
Either way, it is building a decent enough roster of talent. Joining director Shawn Levy is Ryan Gosling, apparently fulfilling a lifelong dream to be in a Star Wars movie. Now, Mia Goth is set to join them according to a report at The InSneider.
Shooting starts this Autumn in the UK, and Gosling will play a character who finds himself protecting a youngster against evil pursuers. The reports say that Goth will play one of those pursuers, and that it was the same character that Mikey Madison had been in the running for.
This is a stand-alone story, unconnected to the Skywalker Saga. This means less baggage. It will be set five years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, so the first time we have gone beyond that in the Star Wars timeline.
Goth has been pretty busy lately, with Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey all in the pipeline.
Star Wars: Starfighter opens in cinemas on May 28th 2027… if the curse of Lucasfilm doesn’t strike first.
