The great “will he, won’t he” saga regarding Tom Hardy and MobLand has been resolved. The Paramount+ show has been officially renewed for season three, and Tom Hardy has been confirmed as returning in the lead role of Harry DaSousa.
The Guy Ritchie-produced series hit choppy waters earlier this year as season 2 recording concluded. There were reports of awkward behaviour on-set from Hardy. Further reports indicated that this was due to scripts, and updates, arriving very late into the process, disrupting Hardy’s preparation for shooting.
Reports back in June indicated the actor would not return for any third season, with reports saying his relationship with showrunner Jez Butterworth had broken down to a point where the two could no longer work together. Then a meeting was convened in London with the two “coming to a great understanding about a path forward”.
The Hollywood Reporter carried the announcement from Paramount+, the statement:
“THE HARRIGANS AREN’T GOING ANYWHERE”
The announcement specifically included Hardy’s character.
The series follows North London crime family the Harrigans who are embroiled in a war for territory and influence. Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren star as the family patriarch and matriarch Conrad and Maeve Harrigan.
Hardy plays the family fixer and confidante, while the stellar supporting cast includes Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Jasmine Jobson, Mandeep Dhillon, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Janet McTeer, Jordi Mollà, and Toby Jones.
The second season premieres on September 18th.
