More 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU

I have a soft spot for 10 Things I Hate About You, sure, it’s a silly rom-com. It’s a got a great soundtrack, the cast is good and it introduced me to Heath Ledger.

"But why?"
“But why?”

It now seems that Gil Junger, the original director, has three more movies in development. The original 10 Things I Hate About You came out in 1999, probably the best year ever for movies.

It starred Ledger, Julia Styles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleknik, David Krumholtz, Andrew Keegan, Susan May Pratt, Gabrielle Union, Larry Miller, Daryl Mitchell, and Allison Janney. The story was:

A high-school boy, Cameron, cannot date Bianca until her anti-social older sister, Kat, has a boyfriend. So, Cameron pays a mysterious boy, Patrick, to charm Kat.

It was a modern retelling of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.

According to People, Junger is working on a script with Naya Elle James. The first of the new movies will be called 10 Things I Hate About Dating. The team are working on an entire trilogy, with the second and third movies called 10 Things I Hate About Marriage and 10 Things I Hate About Kids.

Junger said about this new movie:

“10 Things I Hate About Dating is definitively in the works as a feature film. We’re developing it right now”.

He said that him, and Elle James, have “some pretty good ideas.” This new movie, and indeed the trilogy, have not been greenlit, but they are in development. With Hollywood, so devoid of any original ideas, I’m sure it won’t be long before we see a new 10 Things I Hate About You.

When asked about giving Ledger a nod, Junger replied:

“I think that’s a beautiful idea, and the answer is now going to be yes. … He deserves to be loved.”

You’d think the best way to show the love would be to re-release the original.
