A new Sleepy Hollow movie is coming, but this one has a twist that is all too predictable from modern Hollywood. The focus is being shifted.
This new version is based on Lindsey Anderson Beer’s debut novel. Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) will adapt the script, produce, and direct what is badged as a “…high-concept reimagining of Washington Irving’s 1820 short story…” and, guess what? It will take the story of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and reframe it through the eyes of Katrina Van Tassel.
Van Tassel will be played by Sydney Sweeney, and she will be the central figure in a dangerous mystery with a seductive and supernatural love triangle, blending “gothic atmosphere, psychological intrigue and erotic thriller”.
Surrogate self-insertion and main character syndrome. Many such cases.
In talks to appear alongside her is Masters of the Universe star Nicholas Galitzine, up for the role of Ichabod Crane. Crane will be one third of the love triangle. Off Campus star Belmont Cameli is likely to fill the other role, as Brom Bones.
Surrogate self-insertion and main character syndrome AND two men fighting over her.
Can you guess what the movie will be called? Think about every single female-centric book like this, and how they choose to do titles. Yup. you guessed absolutely correctly. The movie will be called You.
