Original Cast Back For THE MUMMY

As I have said, 1999 was the best year for movie releases ever! One of them was The Mummy, a reboot, yes, but a jolly entertaining one. It was a true definition of a summer blockbuster.

There’s no point in me breaking it down here because I know you’ve seen it. There were two sequels, the first one being OK, but the third one was not so great. I don’t think I ever finished the third one, if I’m honest.

Then, Brendan Fraser had ‘issues’, and the movies stopped. Thankfully, Fraser is back, and everyone is pleased to see him. So much so, they announced The Mummy 4. On the one hand, I like to see Fraser back; on the other hand, do we need a fourth movie?

The Mummy 4 has Fraser back, alongside Rachel Weisz. According to Deadline, more of the original cast members are back.

The first report said John Hannah was back as Evelyn (Weisz’s sister). Oded Fehr will be back as Areth Bay.

The best news is that Kevin O’Connor is back as Beni. I loved Beni’s character in the original movie, a guy who can talk his way out of anything. He didn’t die in the first movie; we just saw him get attacked by bugs as the tomb closed. You know that Beni had an escape route hidden somewhere.

Beni also had a great line, a far better line than should have been in a movie like The Mummy:

“It is better to be the right hand of the devil than in his path.”

The Mummy 4 is being directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and written by David Coggeshall. There is no news on a release date yet.
