The Hollywood Reporter… reports… that Glen Powell, Anthony Mackie and Laura Dern have all joined Monsanto.
This is a legal drama from production Rocket Science and writer-director John Lee Hancock.
It is base on the true story of a young, unproven attorney (Powell) who took on the might of the U.S. chemical company Monsanto.
He took the case for of Dewayne “Lee” Johnson (Mackie), a night school groundskeeper who used one of the companies best know products as a weed killer in the course of his job.
Many years later, he is now suffering an illness and it is suspected the product is to blame.
Laura Dern will play the Monsanto scientist who testifies that the product is safe.
Adam McKay, Kevin Messick, Moritz Borman, Eric Kopeloff, Philip Schulz-Deyle, and Jon Levin are producing.
The Monsanto Company was an American agrochemical and agricultural biotechnology corporation founded in 1901.
The company became a major producer of genetically engineered crops.
In 2018, the company ranked 199th on the Fortune 500 of the largest United States corporations by revenue.
German chemical company Bayer acquired Monsanto for US$66 billion in an all-cash deal in 2018 and retired the Monsanto name.
