PREDATOR: BADLANDS Teaser Trailer

Dan Trechtenberg’s follow-up to Prey will be with us later in the year. Predator: Badlands has a new teaser trailer online.

It’s not giving much away about the story, but the blurb is:

A young Predator outcast from his clan finds an unlikely ally on his journey in search of the ultimate adversary.

The only cast, at the moment, is Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi. Fanning plays Thia, who teams up with the outcast Predator played by, umm, the other guy. I’m not typing that name out again.

The talk about the water cooler is that Fanning’s character is not just an android, but could be a Weyland-Yutani android. This is a rumour at the moment, though, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Trachtenberg told Empire magazine that Fanning had been pushed “dramatically, physically and logistically” for this new Predator: Badlands movie. There is also a rumour that she might be playing two characters.

Prey, a prequel to Predator, premiered on Hulu and took things back to basics; a predator against one person, this time, a young female native American. Prey took place in 1719 and didn’t have all the mod cons of the original movie. They had big guns, lots of bullets and a disposable razor.

Trachtenberg added that Predator: Badlands differs from previous franchise films as the alien creature will be “front and center, leading the charge” instead.

“He’s still badass, but there’s something there that touches you emotionally, too. Creating a character you connect with, but are also super-intimidated by, has been challenging. But exciting.”

Predator has had a series of spin-offs and sequels, including Alien vs Predator in 2004.

Predator: Badlands will be in cinemas on the 7th of November.
