Joan-of-Arc

Ramsey Set For JOAN OF ARC?

From Game Of Thrones to The Last of Us, Bella Ramsey’s star is on the rise. Now scooper DanielRPK says there is a new project on her horizon. She’s been offered the lead role of Joan of Arc in Baz Luhrmann’s next film.

Jehanne d’Arc is set up at Warner Bros. Pre-production is underway and locations are being scouted.

Ramsay will ft this in around her commitments on season 3 of The Last Of Us.

Joan-Of-Arc

Jehanne d’Arc has the potential to be a historical epic, with battle scenes galore.

Joan Of Arc was a peasant girl in France. In 1428, she requested to be taken to Charles VII, later testifying that she was guided by visions from the archangel Michael, Saint Margaret, and Saint Catherine to help him save France from English domination.

Convinced of her devotion and purity, Charles sent Joan, who was about seventeen years old, to the siege of Orléans as part of a relief army.

She arrived at the city in April 1429, wielding her banner and bringing hope to the demoralized French army.

Nine days after her arrival, the English abandoned the siege as their army was needed elsewhere, but her divine intervention was lauded as the reason by the French who declared a victory, and she became celebrated.

Two French defeats and a brief capture followed, so she was burned at the stake for heresy.

In 1920, Joan of Arc was canonized by Pope Benedict XV and, two years later, was declared one of the patron saints of France.

Luhrmann is hot property, with his recent Elvis biopic making $288 million and bagging eight Oscars.

He has previously tried to make an Alexander the Great biopic, but that never made it out of early development.

Most recently, Luc Besson made a version of Joan Of Arc’s story that starred Milla Jovovich – The Messenger.
