Amazon MGM Studios has now dropped the second trailer for the Christmas action-comedy.
Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, and J.K. Simmons headline. The movie follows the abduction of Santa Claus (Simmons) from the North Pole. Commander Callum Drift (Johnson) of the E.L.F. Task Force must partner with the world’s most infamous bounty hunter (Evans) to save Christmas.
Co-stars include Bonnie Hunt, Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Nick Kroll, Kristofer Hivju, Wesley Kimmel, and Jenna Kanell co-star.
Red One has been described as “globe-trotting” and “four-quadrant” which is language we usually hear from Netflix, but this will be an Amazon release in cinemas, then a Prime release.
Long-time Johnson partner Hiram Garcia came up with the original story for Red One. Jake Kasdan (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) is directing from a screenplay by Hobbs and Shaw writer Chris Morgan.
Johnson, Morgan, Garcia, Kasdan, Dany Garcia, Melvin Mar, and Sky Salem Robinson are all listed as producers. Red One will hit cinemas on November 15th. The Prime release is likely to be next year sometime, kind of defeating the purpose of being an Xmas movie unless they hold it an entire year.
