Will they, won’t they… even could they? There has been a lot of talk recently about The Batman universe potentially being the iteration of the Caped Crusader who actually appears in the new DCU.
The success of The Penguin, and a new appreciation in some quarters for Reeves’ original movie, seems to have sparked this interest.
With The Batman Part II and The Brave And The Bold both moving out at least a year, the opportunity could have presented itself for some kind of merge.
Although this felt unlikely.
Now, however, even Matt Reeves himself has not closed the door on this idea.
In a interview with Josh Horowitz on the Golden Globes red carpet, Reeves was asked about this and he seemed open to the idea:
“It really comes down to whether or not it makes sense. What the future brings, I can’t really tell you. I have no idea right now… I don’t know, we’ll have to see where that goes.”
Gunn has previously said he considers The Batman, Joker and other projects as “Elseworlds” outside of the DCU.
What people in Hollywood want, more than anything else, is to keep working, so never say never.
