Romero’s TWILIGHT OF THE DEAD

Sadly, George A. Romero passed away in 2017. I hope they buried his body good and deep, and they checked that he didn’t come back. I don’t think that joke is offensive. I think he would have liked it.

Before he passed away, he left a treatment for another zombie movie: Twilight of the Dead. Romero wrote the story as a conclusion to his zombie saga. It was announced that the movie would be made back in 2021, but the production has had issues.

At one point, Brad Anderson, the director of the very underrated Session 9, was going to direct. Milla Jovovich was going to star as the lead role. In time, that version didn’t pan out, so Doron and Yoaz Paz took over directing duties, with Kate Beckinsale in the lead.

Twilight of the Dead has just finished filming and is heading to post-production. The cast includes Beckinsale, Betty Gabriel, Cooper Barnes, Tait Fletcher, Phil Burke, and Kurt Deimer. Romero and Paolo Zelati are the story writers, with Joe Knetter and Robert L. Lucas completing the screenplay. The story:

Twilight of the Dead is set on a decimated earth where the last vestiges of humanity are trapped between warring factions and an evolving undead threat.

There is no release date for this last of Romero’s movies, but it might be interesting to see.
