Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to team up with Jack Reacher. Arnie will play Santa Claus in a new family comedy titled The Man With the Bag for Amazon MGM Studios. This will mark his second Christmas comedy after the 1996 effort Jingle All the Way.
The story begins when Santa Claus learns that his magic bag has been stolen. With Christmas fast approaching, he has no choice but to go to his naughty list for unconventional help. Vance (Ritchson) is a reformed thief. Santa, Vance’s daughter, and a team of misfit elves team up to help save Christmas.
Ho-ho-ho motherfvckers.
Let’s be honest, we have heard far worse pitches for a Christmas movie. The really unfortunate among us have seen Santa Clause: The Movie multiple times, too.
Adam Shankman is directing from a script by Allan Rice. Ritchson, Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard, Reg Tigerman, and Dan Spilo are producing. Shankman is a former dancer, choreographer and So You Think You Can Dance judge. He has directed a string of comedies including The Wedding Planner, Bringing Down The House, Hairspray, and What Men Want. He most recently made Disenchanted for Disney.
The title comes from a Christmas song by Kay Starr – (Everybody’s Waitin’ For) The Man With The Bag.
After reuniting with his Twins co-star Danny DeVito at the Oscars, they had better get DeVito on board as an elf. Too good an opportunity to pass up.
