Ghislaine Maxwell remains in prison for trafficking young girls to absolutely nobody, apparently. Meanwhile, all the Epstein files remain sealed ostensibly to protect you and me from the ghastly details therein, given that we are such sensitive souls. Still, it won’t stop the entertainment industry from finding a way to milk things, probably while completely failing to mention any longstanding rumors about conduct in their own industry, in A Very Royal Scandal, an upcoming three-part mini-series from Amazon.
Good Omens and Frost/Nixon star Michael Sheen is on board. He has been cast as Prince Andrew. The series will tell the story of his ill-advised contact with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislane Maxwell, which led to allegations being made. In an effort to confront these allegations, the Prince took part in a disastrous interview with Newsnight journalist Emily Maitlis.
Ruth Wilson (The Golden Compass, Luther) will play Maitlis.
The series will tell this story from the point of view of Maitlis leading up to the now-infamous broadcast. The cast is completed by Joanna Scanlan as Amanda Thirsk, Alex Jennings as Sir Edward Young, and Eanna Hardwicke as Stewart Maclean.
This is the third entry in a similar themed series from Amazon, following on from A Very English Scandal starring Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw, and A Very British Scandal starring Claire Foy and Paul Bettany.
Jeremy Brock is writing with Julian Jarrold directing for Blueprint Television, Amazon MGM Studios, and Sony Pictures Television. Maitlis herself serves as an executive producer.
Next do one showing how Epstein definitely killed himself.
