You know how we think that Hollywood cannot get any worse? But then they go and surprise us, well, feast your eyes on the teaser for Shrek 5.
To quote Don Vito Corleone from The Godfather:
“Look how they massacred my boy…”
I watched the original Shrek recently and it’s still funny. There are some childish jokes, mixed with some stuff to make the adults titter to themselves as well. It’s got a great soundtrack and it’s just entertaining.
The sequels were OK, I’d say Shrek 2 is the best of them. The third and fourth movies are fairly forgettable. Then they do a fifth one.
I have looked, but I can’t seem to see which company has taken over the animation, it’s nothing compared to the original, made over 24 years ago! Man, I feel old. There are a number of memes online about the comparison.
The original cast is returning for Shrek 5, Michael Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy. This time though, we have Zendaya, playing Felicia, Skrek and Fiona’s daughter.
Weirdly, there are three directors; Walt Dohrn, Conrad Vernon and Brad Ableson. All have worked in animation, but I’m guessing their budgets have been cut for this one.
In an ironic joke, the spinoff movie, Puss in Boots – The Last Wish, was way much better than it had any right to be. It made me smile that Shrek 5 looks like it was ordered from Wish.
