Something For The Weekend?

Yay, it’s Friday, and the weekend is here. As long as you can avoid your boss and his requests to work on Saturday, you’re golden. The biggest problem is what to watch this weekend?

Well, again, the Last Movie Outpost is here to help you out. We’ve kept a list of movies and shows we’ve been watching this week. The list is usually pretty varied, so you can find something interesting to watch.

This weekend you could be watching:

  • Senna – TV series – still very good and heartbreaking
  • The Big Lebowski – Movie – I’d forgotten how great this is!
  • Bugsy Malone – Movie – caught it on TV, a very odd movie
  • Mr Popper’s Penguins – Movie – again, caught on TV, it was “meh”
  • Homestead – Movie – a zero star effort
  • Hound of the Baskervilles – Movie – a late Hammer production and rather good
  • History of the Occult – Movie – very interesting
  • The Lost Boys – Movie – still a classic
  • The Go-Go Boys – Documentary – The crazy world of Cannon Films, really interesting
  • The Straight Story – Movie – an underrated David Lynch effort
  • Breakin’ – Movie – a Canon production about break dancing and, unbelievably, it was actually very good
  • Creepozoids – Movie – cheesy ‘straight to video’ nasty and great fun. Had boobs
  • The Company of Wolves – Movie – another Cannon production, but a bit too art house to be enjoyable
  • World War Z – Movie – I really like this, and it was better than I remembered

As I said, Bugsy Malone is an odd movie, who came up with that? Who said “I want to make The Godfather but with a cast of teenage kids”? The music is great in it though, I was happily singing along.

If you get the chance to see The Go-Go Boys, it’s worth it. I had no idea how big Cannon Films were in the 80s, they literally took over Hollywood before their bubble burst. In 1986, they produced over 45 movies in one year!

There are more for this weekend, but that’s a pretty good list to be getting on with for you all. So… what are you watching this weekend?
