Something For The Weekend

Ahh, it’s Friday again. This weekend is a third heatwave in the UK, and there’s one of those football things on. It’s England vs some foreign country. I thought we were told to love foreigners? I guess that doesn’t count when a sport is involved.

Anyway, instead of watching a bunch of overpaid nancies poncing about, you can watch a movie starring a bunch of overpaid nancies pouncing about.

  • Outcome – Movie – New movie with Keanu Reeves, who plays a grown-up child actor; it was forgettable.
  • Super Mario Galaxy  Movie – It’s great for kids, lots of bright colours, and no story.
  • Strawberry Mansion – Indie movie – By a director I interviewed, and a cute little movie.
  • Project Hail Mary – Movie – Back to basics, simple movie, simple story, wonderfully told, and just really good.
  • Basic Instinct – Movie – Gratuitous beaver shot.
  • Vanilla Sky – Movie – Tom Cruise, and it messes with your head.
  • The Resurrection (1991) – Movie – By Dan O’Bannon and enjoyable, in a camp way.
  • Day of the Dead – Movie – The original, in the underground bunker with Bub, the friendly zombie.

  • The Lost Boys – Movie – Mildly entertaining vampire fun.
  • Thrash – Movie – One of the new shark movies on Netflix, and laughably bad.
  • AvP: Requiem – Movie – A bad movie, but great by today’s standards.
  • Prometheus – Movie – Not sure why, it must have been on TV.
  • The Nice Guys – Movie – A far better movie than it had any right to be.
  • Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – Movie – This was nowhere near as good as the original TV show or radio series.
  • Dredd – Movie – Karl Urban as Dredd and everything is in slow-mo.
  • They Live – Movie – A movie that is more relevant today than ever.

There you go, that’s your weekend sorted, oh, and you have The Furious to watch. What will you be watching?
