It’s Friday and the weekend is here. You’ve had a busy week avoiding as much work as possible. In fact, you spent so much time avoiding work, it would have been better if you just got on with it.
Now it’s the weekend though, you can sit down and watch something, something enjoyable that leaves you feeling entertained. Here is what various Outposters have been watching this week. A lot of suggestions, so here we go.
- Cute (1997) – Movie – A Japanese horror that was pretty mind-bending.
- House of the Dead – Movie – Uwe Boll, enough said.
- Reacher – TV Series – Need to see the last episode, but a very good series so far.
- Control Freak – Movie – Kelly Marie Tran horror movie that was actually decent.
- The Electric State – Movie – Not worth the money or you time.
- The Captain America Trilogy – Movies – Chef’s kiss of a trilogy. Good job they didn’t make any more of them…
- The Boy from Brazil – Movie – Catching up on an absolute classic thriller!
- Billy Madison – Movie – Adam Sandler trying to be funny, it was meh.
- Demolition Man – Movie – Classic Stallone vs Snipes and very appropriate in 2025.
- Furiosa: A Mad Max Story – Movie – Good, but not Fury Road good.
- Martin (1977) – Movie – One of George A. Romero’s first and I didn’t rate it.
- Face/Off – Movie – I would have preferred a movie with Cage as Castor Troy.
That will keep you going over the weekend. Some old favorites and some new stuff to watch.
Control Freak
I have to mention this as it starred Kelly Marie Tran She’s the person that was blamed for Rose Tico in The Last Jedi. I felt sorry for her as it wasn’t her fault the character was terrible. That blame lies firmly with Ruin Johnson.
I found the story for Control Freak a little weak, but I think Marie Tran was really good in it. When she’s given a decent script and a decent director, she can really act. Control Freak isn’t the greatest story, but it’s was worth seeing her in it. Controversial, I know.
Captain America Trilogy
I still haven’t seen Brave New World yet as I’m waiting for it to hit streaming and then sit down over a weekend and watch it, there’s no hurry. The original trilogy though, is a damn fine set of movies.
What’s weird is the Russo Brothers. They give us something like The Winter Solider, but then also The Electric State. Talk about two different movies! One is gripping, well-told told, and exciting, the other is The Electric State.
So what are you watching this weekend? Are you going to binge Reacher? Or catch up with a classic?
