Spielberg Overseeing More TRANSFORMERS

Nothing can stop the Transformers, as there is an 8th movie in the works. I’m sure I remember reading that Michael Bay, the director of the first of the movies, wanted to make about 14 of these movies? #rollleyes

Spielberg has already produced the previous Transformer movies, but this time around, he will be more hands-on. According to Variety, he will serve as executive producer, but also oversee all “creative aspects” of the new live-action movie.

He will work alongside Lorenzo di Bonaventura and try to bring back the tone of the earlier movies. What happened to the tone of the later movies? I have seen them, but as with most of these franchise movies, I couldn’t tell you a thing about them now.

No director has been announced for Transformers 8, but the word is that Bay might be back in the director’s chair.

After the merger of Paramount Skydance with Warner Bros to form Skydance, apparently Spielberg was one of the first to have a meeting. Under his watch as Executive Producer, the previous Transformers movies grossed over $5 billion globally.

The news of a new movie comes off the back of the re-release of the original, animated The Transformers: The Movie, which was recently reviewed by Hawkzino.

I also seem to recall reading somewhere that Chris Hemsworth might voice Optimus Prime going forwards. As we know, sadly, Peter Cullen, the original voice of Prime, passed away this year. Hemsworth voiced Prime in the animated film Transformers One.

A Couple Of Side Notes

While we were talking about the Transformers movies, I remembered that there were rumors of a crossover movie with the G. I. Joe franchise. It looks like that is no longer going to be moving forward. The new G. I. Joe movie that is in production from Danny McBride will have nothing to do with Transformers 8.

While looking into the world of Transformers movies for this piece of news, I was reminded of Megan Fox and some research led me to a rather troubling discovery.
