Following in the footsteps of Helen Slater, Melissa Benoist, Sasha Calle, and Laura Vandervoort, whoever scores the role of Supergirl in the new DCU at Warner Bros. will be straight into the action. They will be making an appearance (probably as a cameo or a post-credits stinger) in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman: Legacy.

Now, Deadline has broken what it claims is a shortlist and indicates that while a straight offer is a possibility, it is likely that there will be screen tests, with James Gunn having the final say on the choice of actress for the role. That shortlist starts with Milly Alcock from House Of The Dragon.

Next is Emilia Jones from Locke & Key.

Finally, it is Meg Donnelly from The Winchesters.

The appearance in Superman: Legacy will come ahead of starring in their own feature – Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. This will take Tom King’s highly-rated miniseries of the same name from a script by Ana Nogueira. Gunn has previously referred to the project as a science fiction epic.

Donnelly has already voiced the character in animated projects like Legion of Superheroes, and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One.
