THE BABY IN THE BASKET On Shudder

Friend of the Last Movie Outpost, Nathan Shepka, has been in touch about his last movie. Nate is an indie movie-maker from Scotland and has The Baby in the Basket heading to Shudder.

I reviewed The Baby in the Basket; read it here. The rest of the info is from the press release.

Shepka Productions and Flickering Myth’s indie horror The Baby in the Basket has been acquired by Shudder. It will stream as part of the platform’s July line-up, joining a curated slate of cult favourites and iconic genre titles.

Critics compare the film to classic Hammer-style British gothic horror. The movie stars Amber Doig-Thorne (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey) leading a cast that also features veteran British actors Maryam d’Abo (The Living Daylights), Paul Barber (The Full Monty), and Annabelle Lanyon (Legend). The story unfolds in an isolated convent on a remote Scottish island during World War II, where characters discover a newborn baby amid a raging storm.

The Baby in the Basket marks the first completed feature from the ongoing collaboration between Flickering Myth and Shepka Productions, a partnership focused on producing commercially-minded genre films for international audiences.

Spearheaded by producers Nathan Shepka of Shepka Productions and Gary Collinson of Flickering Myth. Their collaboration has since expanded into a broader slate of projects, including the suspense thriller Death Among the Pines (streaming now on Tubi and releasing in the UK in September). Also, the upcoming Robert the Doll franchise reboot Robert Returns, releasing in early 2027 from 4Digital Media. Further announcements are expected as the slate continues to expand.

The Baby in the Basket will premiere on Shudder in the United States on July 20th 2026. You should check it out, as it is a decent horror movie and to support indie movies.
