The Cost Of CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD

Captain America: Brave New World has been through a lot to get to the big screen. It’s had reshoots, rewrites, and who knows what else done to it. Late last year, there were reports that the movie cost in the area of $300 million.

There are now reports that Brave New World only cost $180 million. Hmmm, someone is telling porky pies. We’ve done articles about Hollywood Accounting and how things are never as they seem.

Hollywood accounting is a funny thing. Sometimes it seems like movies make money, sometimes they lose money. They tell us how much movies cost to make, but how do we know what’s true and what’s lies? According to the article above, Return of the Jedi never made a profit, even today.

Captain America: Brave New World is from Disney. I don’t know about you, but I don’t tend to believe what Disney says.

If the cost is $300 million, that means it needs to make, at least, $1 billion to break even. OK, things like Deadpool & Wolverine made well over $1 billion, but that was because it was a movie the fans had been waiting to see for years.

Captain America: Brave New World is a Captain America movie without Steve Rogers. It’s not exactly something the fans are screaming for. Who knows if it will make money or not? Well, the accountants will, but they will never tell.
