THE MUMMY 4 Is Really Happening!

It takes a lot to make us think anything coming out of Hollywood is a “feel good” story, knowing what a nest of exploitative vipers it is. Brendan Fraser’s career reboot is something we will make an exception for. The Mummy 4 might be the peak of that return.

Becoming a Hollywood recluse after being sexually assaulted by a Hollywood President, he returned to the limelight with some genuinely emotional awards triumphs and a string of great notices for his performances.

However, it is always the swashbuckling role of Rick O’Connell from the Mummy franchise, his star making role, that sticks in our minds.

So it is with something of a warm and fuzzy feeling that we recieve the news that The Mummy 4 is not only happening, but that it has a release date targeted.

Universal Pictures has set a May 19th 2028 date.

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are both returning, meaning there is an Oscar winner in each of the lead roles.

The pair will reprise their roles of American adventurer and former French Foreign Legion soldier Rick O’Connell and English Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan.

The rumors started back in November. Radio Silence‘s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett were circling the project with David Coggeshall writing a potential script.

Both starred in the roles in the original 1999 film and 2001’s The Mummy Returns. Maria Bello took over the Evie role for the third movie.

Sean Daniel, William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein will produce. By staking a claim this early, The Mummy 4 currently has that release slot completely to itself.
