The Penguin is imminent. The HBO series will land soon, so a new third trailer has been released for the show.
The series is set directly after the end of Matt Reeves’ The Batman and will run for eight episodes. Parts of Gotham are still partially flooded following the Riddler’s plot, and control of the underworld is wide open after the death of Carmine Falcone (Jon Turturro).
The Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine’s daughter Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti), and arrested mob boss and Falcone rival Salvatore Maroni (Clancy Brown) will battle it out for supremacy.
The show will pave the way for The Batman Part II and help build out the universe, shining a light on the endemic corruption in Gotham City that chokes the struggling city.
Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau, Theo Rossi, and David H. Holmes co-star.
Craig Zobel (Mare of Easttown) directs the first two episodes. He is also an executive producer alongside Reeves. Lauren LeFranc wrote the series and serves as showrunner.
The Penguin will debut on HBO on Thursday, September 19th followed by new episodes weekly starting starting September 29th. In the UK it will be available on release day via Sky Atlantic.
