Nobody does unhinged quite like Nicolas Cage. It’s always a delight to see him go off the deep end of sanity. Roadside Attractions new thriller The Surfer looks like it has the potential to deliver new levels of Cage-led craziness.
The Surfer follows Cage as a man who built a life for himself in the United States and then returns to the secluded Australian beach of his childhood.
His plan to surf with his son brings him into conflict with a gang of local surfers who view the bay as their won, and keep outsiders off their waves.
The man is drawn into a conflict and the stakes escalate again and again as the tension explodes into a deadly confrontation.
Julian McMahon, Nic Cassim, Miranda Tapsell, Alexander Bertrand, and Justin Rosniak co-star. Lorcan Finnegan (Vivarium) directs from a script by Thomas Martin.
Robert Connolly, Nathan Klingher, Leonora Darby, James Harris and Mark Lane produce. The Surfer will get a U.S. cinema release on May 2nd, and we might just be there for it!
