You know who heroes are? Not people who put their lives on the line. No, I’m talking about stop-motion animators. OK, ‘heroes’ might be a bit strong, but I will always enjoy the effort they put into their work. Like the makers of Wildwood.
I’m going to say it, but it’s ‘too beautiful’. I know that’s an odd thing to say, but some of it looks like CG; it’s so ‘clean’. I think I said the same thing at the teaser we posted a while ago. Wildwood looks amazing, but I kind of want to see the fingerprints on the models.
Wildwood stars Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Jamaine Clement, Tom Waits, Richard E. Grant, and, sadly, Awkafina. Yes, let’s take the worst part of Awkafina, her voice, and use that.
The story for Wildwood is:
The adventures of Prue McKeel as she sets off to the forests outside Portland to find her kidnapped brother.
Wildwood is from the producers of Coraline, Laika. For me, if you made Coraline, you get a thumbs up from me. So, I’m looking forward to Wildwood. It might even be a cinema movie for me. The movie looks like an epic piece of work, with a good cast; let’s hope they nail the story.
Wildwood will be released in cinemas on the 23rd Oct.
