Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three opens in just a couple of months, and it will serve as a franchise capper for his adaptation, closing out the story of Paul Atreides with a movie based on the novel Dune: Messiah.
Once he is done with Dune: Part Three, Villeneuve will then be all systems go on the new James Bond movie, the 26th in the main franchise.

In a big feature interview with Empire about Dune, he explained where we will find the characters, some 17 years after the events of Dune: Part Two:
“…this time the world has totally changed. Their psyches, their perspective on reality has totally changed, and Paul is living with the burden of what he created, trying to find a way out of this spiral of violence.”
Dune: Messiah is a much slower-paced book than the first novel, which was split into the two movies. We should probably expect a more talkie, reflective movie. So how does a director go from something like that to a big Bond extravaganza?
“I said, ‘Maybe it’s a good idea to go back to this project [“Dune: Part Three”], not out of nostalgia, not because I miss it, but the opposite – I’m tired of it’. I want to make sure that I will be severe with the material. That I will not be complacent. I thought, ‘When [Dune: Part Three is] done, I need a very powerful rocket to pull me away from Arrakis. When I was asked to do the next Bond, I said: ‘Okay, this is what I need.’”
It is the second half of October now, and the strong rumors out of Amazon were that we will find out the identity of the new James Bond before the end of the year. Tick-tock!
Dune: Part Three opens in cinemas on December 18th, same day as Avengers: Doomsday.
