Whether you love or loathe what Peter Safran and James Gunn are doing with the DC Universe, being an impartial observer to the struggles of some fans vs. reality is always amusing. Certain websites and social feeds stated as fact that Gunn and Safran were out as DC co-chiefs.
They did not let Skydance confirming they were staying knock them off course at all. A certain website that is the nexus of a lot of this stuff simply made up a whole new suite of rumors and presented them as fact. As we were discussing just yesterday in the Disqus, the same website seems to have some kind of weird fixation on Street Fighter now, as well.
The latest suite of completely made-up… sorry, we mean online rumors from the same people are these. That Matt Reeves is off The Batman: Part II, that Milly Alcock has been fired from the Supergirl role, and that Man of Tomorrow has test-screened, and audiences found it too dark in tone.

Gunn was traditionally direct when addressing these rumors via social media:
“You guys just have to stop listening to BS, and I’m mostly done shooting down rumours as there are so many, and I’m not on here much. But all three of these couldn’t be more false. I’m showing PETER SAFRAN my first Director’s Cut [of Man of Tomorrow] today – he’s the first person to see it obviously – and that’s a month early.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Safran says their new boss David Ellison has the inside track on all plans:
“We really took him into the tent and talked about where we see it going over the next number of years so he’s got a really good sense of what we want to do and he seems to be embracing that idea.”
Clayface opens next week, and on a controlled budget of just $30 million the current tracking numbers are good news for the studio. On this project, Safran said:
“We always talked about the idea that a DC slate should have tremendous scope of tones and vibes and scales and scopes and budget levels. The fact that we get to make a DC movie that is a pure body horror movie, that is a dream come true.”
Did anyone ever figure out who SuperShadow was? Instead of laughing about Grando Calrissian and the black lightsaber, maybe people should ask what happened to that guy?
