Defying Accountability: The Movie, returns! Universal Pictures has unveiled the teaser trailer for Wicked: For Good, which adapts the second half of the musical. Anyone who has been dragged to see the stage show understands the challenge here, as all the famous songs are in the first half.
The two movies were shot back to back, but this movie will start years after the events of the first. Elphaba is now declared as an enemy of Oz and is known as the Wicked Witch of the West, while Glinda is a public figure controlled by the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) and Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh).
The highest-grossing movie musical of all time grabbed ten Oscar nominations and two wins.
Director Jon M. Chu spoke to Vanity Fair on the release of the teaser, and said this movie will be very different from the first one, but talked about choices and consequences from the first film playing out in this installment:
“Things that you may have noticed in movie one, you’ll see why those things are there. It is designed to be seen big and felt deeply.”
There will be two new songs in this version, and the stage show reveals Dorothy Gale as a shadow, so expect more of the same here.
Wicked: For Good is set to open in cinemas on November 12th, so get your excuses in early before you are forced to go and see it.
