Heads of State could be awful, or it could be one of those stupid good times that allows you to disengage your brain, grab a beer, and let it wash over you. No idea yet in which direction it will go. It is from Ilya Naishuller, the director of Nobody, so it has that going for it. It also looks like the kind of movie that 1980s me would have definitely rented on VHS.
Either way, it now has a second trailer.
Heads of State brings back The Suicide Squad co-stars John Cena and Idris Elba, alongside Jack Quaid, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Sharlto Copley in key supporting roles.
This action-adventure-thriller-comedy follows the UK Prime Minister and former soldier, Sam Clarke (Idris Elba), and the U.S. President, former movie action hero Will Derringer (John Cena). They do not get on. They have a very public rivalry that places the “special relationship” between the UK and the US at risk.
When they become the targets of a powerful and ruthless foreign adversary, who proves more than a match for the two leaders’ security forces, they are begrudgingly forced to rely on the only two people they can trust: each other.
With support from MI6 agent Noel Bisset (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), they must go on the run and find a way to work together long enough to thwart a global conspiracy that threatens the entire free world.
Carla Gugino, Stephen Root, Sarah Niles, Richard Coyle, and Paddy Considine co-star in the film. Peter Safran and Jack Richard produce, with Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, and Harrison Query as writers.
Heads Of State will arrive on Amazon Prime Video on 22nd July.
