X-FILES Reboot Gets Green Light

Hulu, under the umbrella of Disney, has officially greenlit a reboot of the X-Files from Black Panther and Sinners writer/director Ryan Coogler.

The deal covers a pilot to be shown on Hulu, which will put it on Disney+ globally.

Coogler will write and direct the pilot. If it is picked up for a full series then Jennifer Yale (The Copenhagen Test) will be showrunner.

The report at Deadline says that Danielle Deadwyler (The Woman in the Yard) will be one of the co-leads. Will this be the Scully character, or the Mulder?

No other names are confirmed at this point, but it is known that the basic premise remains that two vastly different FBI agents will be brought together to re-open a long-closed unit within the FBI, and along the way form an unlikely bond as they investigate unexplained phenomena.

Yale, Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and Zinzi Coogler will produce alongside original The X-Files creator Chris Carter.

Cooler had previously said that this will lean heavily towards the horror side of the phenomena.
