Gore Verbinski’s Newest Movie

Gore Verbinski is an underrated director. He’s had some great hits: Pirates of the Caribbean, The Mexican, A Cure for Wellness, but then, he’s had some misses: The Ring and The Lone Ranger. I mean, The Ring wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t the original.

It’s been almost 10 years since Verbinski’s last movie, but he’s back with a movie called Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die.

The movie stars Sam Rockwell, Juno Temple, Zazie Beetz, Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Pena, Asim Chaudhry, and Dina Fetscher. Mathew Robinson is the writer; he’s known for movies like The Invention of Lying, Monster Trucks, and Dora and the Lost City. He’s also credited with writing Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, which is the Patty Jenkins one. Someone needs to update the IMDb.

The story for Verbinski’s new movie is:

A “Man From the Future” arrives at a diner in Los Angeles where he must recruit the precise combination of disgruntled patrons to join him on a one-night quest to save the world from the terminal threat of a rogue artificial intelligence

This, with the cast, sounds like it could be fun. According to Deadline, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die is “Gore Verbinski’s first independent, bonkers movie.” The movie has been acquired by Briarcliff Entertainment, who now have distribution rights. In a statement:

“This film is wildly original, endlessly entertaining, and unlike anything audiences have seen before. After seeing it, we immediately knew Briarcliff was the perfect partner to distribute Gore Verbinski’s first independent, bonkers movie. We couldn’t be more excited to share his vision with audiences across the country.”

The movie will be released on the 30th of Jan.
