Well… doesn’t this look interesting? If Con Air wasn’t played for laughs, then was made into a series, then got merged with 30 Days Of Night without vampires. It sounds crazy, but it might just work! Apple TV+ has released the trailer for something that is just that – The Last Frontier – and I think it looks worth checking out.
Jason Clarke plays Frank Remnick, the lone U.S. Marshal in charge of a quiet and rugged patch of Alaska. His world is turned upside-down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates.
Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with far-reaching and devastating implications.
It co-stars Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessel, Dallas Goldtooth, Tait Blum, and Alfre Woodard also has a key role.
The Last Frontier is executive produced by Jon Bokenkamp (The Blacklist) and Richard D’Ovidio. They are also both credited as writers. Also executive producing are Clarke, Laura Benson, Glenn Kessler, Albert Kim. Some of the episodes will be directed by Sam Hargrave, the director of the Extraction movies.
As the nights start to draw in, the best TV starts to roll. It’s just the law!
The Last Frontier premieres on October 10th on the streamer, and runs for 10 episodes. Apple TV+ still has a decent hit rate, so let’s see if this helps them keep it up.
