Dunesday

Brace Yourself, DUNESDAY Is Coming

First, there was Barbenheimer. Next year, there will be Dunesday. Both Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday and Warner Bros. Dune: Part Three are both locked and loaded for December 18th, 2026. Warner Bros. isn’t moving, so the internet has already anointed the day as Dunesday.

Barbenheimer became a weird, internet-driven event that propelled both movies to huge box office hauls.

Dune: Part Three is confirmed as being the endpoint of Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy, as it closes the book on the story of Paul Atreides and wraps things up before the events of Arrakis get so weird that normo audiences would get completely lost.

Avengers: Doomsday will close out the Multiverse Saga and, probably, set the path for the Secret Wars Saga through a post-credits stinger of some kind. Any bets on that scene featuring Battleworld? Avengers: Secret Wars is due out in December 2027, and is being shot back-to-back in the UK with Doomsday.

Dune: Part Three looks set to win the battle for IMAX screens. According to a report on Dark Horizons, they will take precedence as cinematographer Linus Sandgren is shooting with the new generation IMAX cameras.
