Lee Cronin’s THE MUMMY Trailer

When you think of The Mummy, you think about Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. That version, from 1999, is just fun. There was news about seeing Fraser and Weisz, but this trailer isn’t that. This is why everyone is calling it Lee Cronin’s The Mummy.

I’ll be honest, this looks good. The Mummy from 1999 is an action-adventure, but this version by Cronin is obviously a horror. Cronin is known for Evil Dead Rise (2023). Sadly, The Mummy is also written by him. I say that, as he wrote Evil Dead Rise, and it ticked every cliché in the book. I saw it once, but never returned because of the story.

The Mummy stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Veronica Falcon, Emily Mitchell, Natalie Grace, and Hayat Kamille. The story is:

The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace-eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.

Universal have said that Cronin’s The Mummy has nothing to do with anything other properties of the bandaged monster. And, as I said, it’s also got nothing to do with The Mummy 4, which will see Fraser and Weisz back.

Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are producing this new Mummy. Again, this isn’t the best news. I’m yet to see a Blumhouse movie that’s scary.

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy will be in theatres on the 17th of April.
