It feels like we need more cryptozoology based movies. Sure, Bigfoot gets a fair few outings, but there are many other mythical (or not!) beasties to chose from, like the Yeti.
The Yeti is a legendary ape-like creature said to inhabit the Himalayan mountains of Asia, often described as a 6–8 foot tall, bipedal beast with white hair.
While rooted in Tibetan and Nepalese folklore as a, sometimes, protective spirit, it has become a staple of pop culture
Its secondary name – the Abominable Snowman – comes from 1920s Western explorers mistranslating various Himalayan tribal languages around a rumored “Mountain Bear” Or “Wild Man”.

Either way, somebody is going to be surprised as f*ck to have one turn up in the Swiss Alps, and that somebody is Chris Pine!
Pine will lead the cast for The Conjuring: Last Rites director Michael Chaves in a new survival thriller Yeti.
The project is set up at Netflix, according to a report in Deadline. It follows a trip in the Swiss Alps where an an avalanche unexpectedly unleashes something primeval, trapped alive within the glacial ice.
With no hope of rescue, a father (Pine) and his daughter must fight to survive against a merciless predator that blends in with the snow and is relentlessly pursuing and stalking them.
Co-stars are Iona Bell (The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping), Sofia Boutella (The Mummy) and Ray Winstone (Scum).
Peter Gaffney wrote the spec script that was included in a first look deal between Sony Pictures and Netflix. There has been a rewrite by Sean Tretta.
Producers include Erik Feig, Dan Kagan, and Jessica Switch.
No release date, or even further production details, are known for Yeti.
