Steven Spielberg has been, for him, uncharacteristically quiet lately. He last directed The Fabelmans back in 2022, and before that his last summer tentpole blockbuster was, believe it or not, his last Indiana Jones film back in 2008.
So what does the summer hold for the return of “The Beard”? Well, so far it looks a lot less E.T. and a lot more Close Encounters Of The Third Kind for Disclosure Day. What do we actually know about the film? To the blurb!
“If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to … Disclosure Day.”
Outside of this, the previous trailer and the Super Bowl spot didn’t really give too much away. This trailer shows us quite a lot more, but also leaves many more threads dangling and questions to answer. Intriguing.
Universal Pictures would consider this a full-length trailer, so there is possibly only one more trailer to come after this. Will it all be so mysterious going into the theatrical release?
Hotly tipped future James Bond Josh O’Connor stars alongside Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell.

David Koepp wrote the script based on a story by Spielberg, while Janusz Kamiński served as cinematographer, and John Williams will compose the score.
Disclosure Day opens in cinemas on June 12th.
