Theron Hits Out At Chalamet

Trans kids are like vegetarian cats. This is the thought that pops into my head every time I come across any news that features Charlize Theron. And here we are again…

When Timothée Chalamet made an offhand remark that “nobody cares” about ballet and opera, and he didn’t want movies to go the same way, he had no idea what a shitstorm he was inadvertently setting off.

The internet caught fire, or at least the tiny corner where ballet dancers and opera singers hang out. I haven’t found it yet. I keep getting distracted by all the porn. Apparently, it exists, though.

It was even part of the opening monologue at the Oscars this year. Another person who is not impressed at all is Charlize Theron, who gave an interview to The New York Times over the weekend, and she had this to say about Chalamet’s comments:

“Dance is probably one of the hardest things I ever did. Dancers are superheroes. What they put their bodies through in complete silence. Sorry, Timothée Chalamet.

Oh boy, I hope I run into him one day. That was a very reckless comment on an art form, two art forms, that we need to lift up constantly because, yes, they do have a hard time.

But in 10 years, AI is going to be able to do Timothée’s job, but it will not be able to replace a person on a stage dancing live. And we shouldn’t [expletive] on other art forms.”

She said the dance was such constant hard work that she had multiple blood infections from blisters that never healed, and bled through her shoes. Oh crikey, it’s like being in the trenches at the Somme all over again!
