This Beast is not to be confused with the 2022 movie with Idris Elba, which was about a lion. This Beast is about cage fighting.
OK, so it’s full of cliches, but it might be good. I wonder who will win in the end? I’m guessing not the audience.
Beast stars Daniel MacPherson, Russell Crowe, Mojean Aria, Kelly Gale, Nathan Philips, Bren Foster and Thor’s brother, not Liam, the other one. Tyler Atkins directs, with David Frigerio and Crowe writing. The story is:
MMA legend Patton James, now a commercial fisherman, is pulled back into the cage when his brother is in danger. Reuniting with his old coach Sammy, he commits to one final fight in ONE Championship against its brutal champion Xavier Grau.
Again, not many details from the press release, but I can tell you that MacPherson was in nearly 400 episodes of Neighbours, the Aussie soap. It was shown over here in the UK at 5:30pm, just before the news. As it was dinner time, we had to watch it for years.
It’s interesting to see Crowe writing Beast. According to the IMDb, he’s only got two writing credits, this and the movie Poker Face. I think I have seen that last one, but I had to look it up. It stars Crowe and Liam Hemsworth, Thor’s other brother.
Beast is released in the US on the 10th of April, then in June in the UK.
