Holland On THE LINCOLN HIGHWAY

With both Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey dropping within just a few weeks of each other, Tom Holland is going to have quite the summer. As he potentially comes to the end of his time within the MCU, at least through the next evolution, which concludes with Avengers: Secret Wars, he will be looking to spread his acting wings.

Serious work will be in his future, like this. A film adaptation of Amor Towles’ 2021 novel The Lincoln Highway, being produced by Harry Potter and new James Bond producer David Heyman, adapted by the creator of The Bear, Christopher Storer.

It is not just a book; it is “literature” and a period drama. It follows four young men on a ten-day road trip from Nebraska to New York City. It is told from the point of view of several characters, from both first and third person perspectives.

Page Six reports that the project was set up at Warner’s, but the impending studio sale placed it on pause, meaning the producers could shop it around, and several studios are now interested.

Holland recently spoke about how he really doesn’t like Hollywood itself, saying:

“I really am a massive fan of making movies, but I really do not like Hollywood. It is not for me. The business really scares me. I understand that I’m a part of that business and I enjoy my kind of interactions with it, but that said, I am always looking for ways to kind of remove myself from it to kind of just live as normal a life as possible.”

Showing some wisdom beyond his years, Holland plays golf and practices carpentry as hobbies, while surrounding himself with family and the same friends he has had for most of his life to keep him grounded and outside the Hollywood bubble.
