At first, Gods Don’t Give Gifts just sounds like any other movie from Hollywood. However, this one has quite a major ‘twist’. It will be the first fully AI-generated movie to get a cinema release. Here is a trailer.
I have to say it, and don’t shoot the messenger here, but I think it looks interesting. I’m a sucker for weird visuals in movies, so I’m willing to give it a try.
What I’m not really understanding about Gods Don’t Give Gifts is that it is described as ‘the first AI-generated film’. However, when I looked the movie up, there is a director, writers, composers, editors and a sound department. There are still a lot of people working on the movie, which is AI-generated.
The movie also stars Richard Cotton, Sam Dale, Ben Kersley, Mark Lewis, Sarah Lockett, and other real-life human actors. Jack London, the director, is known as Gossip Goblin on YouTube and has some interesting work.
It seems that Gods Don’t Give Gifts has been moved to a December cinema release because they are looking to submit it for an Academy Award next year.
At the time of writing, Fable, the producers of Gods Don’t Give Gifts, have not disclosed a distributor for the movie. However, they say this new trailer will be in theatres this coming Friday across the US.
Yoda has just done an article about AI, and it seems the ball is certainly rolling and gaining a lot of speed. We seem to be far off from one person just using a prompt to say ‘AI bot, make me a movie’, but it seems we are heading in that direction.
